Welcome

Language on the Land is a project of the Northumberland Indigenous early years team that aims to contribute to the revitalization of First Nations languages. This early years program supports the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of children. We view the young child as active, curious, and capable of achieving their full potential through learning. This digital online format allows for the implementation of program objectives through a culturally relevant approach to language learning.

This site was developed in collaboration with Northumberland County, Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre and Alderville First Nation language teachers Melody Crowe and Sarah Macleod Beaver. We want express sincere gratitude to both language teachers for sharing their knowledge as part of this project. Our team believes passionately about fostering an understanding of Indigenous language, as it helps children develop true acceptance and compassion for early learning.
