Biidaaban

A young Anishinaabe boy who loves to go on adventures with his group of friends. Biidaaban likes teaching his friends Anishinaabemowin during their adventures on the land, whether its along the forest trails or around the campfire. Biidaaban works to build meaningful relationships by demonstrating empathy, respect, and fostering an understanding of Indigenous knowledge and teachings.

Makwa (Bear)

The bear is a gentle and courageous creature. He roams the land looking to stir up fun with all the other forest animals. Makwa is always listening to his heart and uses his gift of courage to face daily challenges. Through play he helps his friends of the land understand the meaning of never give in and never give up.

Turtle (Makinaak)

The Turtle loves a good game of truth or dare! Usually opting for the truth, Mshiikenh lets her friends now that living a truthful life means following the path of the seven grandfather teachings. The turtle might appear to move slower, but don’t blink because she’s tricky. Before her friends realize she has made it to her destination on time, no matter the length of time that it may take her. The turtle can often be spotted sunning her shell along the water’s edge.

Blue Bird Jay

Sorrowing from tree to tree the blue jay is our friend of the sky. Travelling alongside his friends watching their adventures from above. Singing a high pitch tune the blue jay is on the hunt for delicious snacks and a tree branch to perch upon. It is easy to spot the bright blue bird striking across the sky, as the wings glisten in the sun.
